Episode 7: LTC Craig Henderson ’08

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Craig A. Henderson is from Commerce, Georgia and graduated from North Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He also has a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership Argosy University.             

LTC Henderson served in command positions up to the battalion level and staff positions up to the Division.

LTC Henderson currently serves as the Battalion Commander of the Georgia Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion.  Notably he recently served as the Battalion Commander for 177th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT). He has formerly served as Human Resource Plans Branch Chief in the State G1, 1-108th CAV Executive Officer, the Brigade Engineer of the 48th IBCT, and Assistant S3 at 78th Troop Command, Commander of the 165th Quartermaster Company (ADS), Aide-de-Camp to the Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Commander of Task Force II of the Recruiting Retention Battalion, Training Officer 3-108th CAV, and served as the Assistant S4 for the Homeland Response Force. He deployed to Iraq in 2003-2004 as an Enlisted Soldier, to Afghanistan in 2008-2009 where he served as a Route Clearance Platoon Leader in the 810th Engineer Company (Sapper) and again to Afghanistan from 2018-2019 as the 48th IBCT Brigade Engineer.

LTC Henderson’s professional military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, Intermediate Level Education, and the Advanced Operations Course. He has completed several additional skill identification courses to include Jumpmaster, Pathfinder and Rigger.

LTC Henderson’s highest decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He is the recipient of the Cavalry and Armor Association award.

LTC Henderson, his wife Maria, and their two sons Mason (9) and Cullen (7) reside in Powder Springs, Ga.
